The Best Way To Enjoy Nights Of Lights In St. Augustine
It's finally here! Nights of Lights, the famous display of holiday lights throughout the oldest city has become a must-see event! As luxury real estate agents, our customers are always asking where they can see the best lights around, and Nights of Lights is no-doubt one of the best places to start. Whether you're taking the whole family, or getting out for date night, we've assembled everything you need to know about Nights of Lights in this post below.
NIGHTS OF LIGHTS DATE NIGHT
St. Augustine's Nights of Lights is a magical sight to experience. In fact, National Geographic named it one of the top ten holiday light displays in the world! Streets, plazas and local businesses all contribute to the millions of white lights on display and they do not disappoint. Whether you’re visiting or you're a local, we've put together date night ideas with some of our favorite spots to check out!
DATE NIGHT WITH THE FAMILY
We love to start date night off at Casa Reina. The tacos are fabulous, but be sure to try their Mexican sushi and Old City cocktail. If the kiddos aren't up for tacos, head to Pizzalley’s on St. George Street for a slice of pizza. After grabbing a bite to eat, make your way to Old Town Trolley Tours for a ride around town. Be sure to reserve your tickets online in advance. The tours depart from 10 West Castillo Drive and run about 45 minutes. They play holiday music, serve complimentary cookies and apple cider, and even give you some stylish glasses that enhance all the twinkling lights! These tours are fun for all and well worth the experience.
Lastly comes the hard part -- deciding where to stop for dessert! Here are three of our favorite spots that each offer a little something different.
1. Peace Pie, amazing combination of ice cream sandwiches and homemade pies- so yummy!
2. The Hyppo, these are gourmet popsicles and they are all so unique and delicious!
3. Mayday Ice Cream is our final choice and the kids will be talking about this one for sure!
DATE NIGHT - SANS KIDS
Whether you are with friends or your significant other, this date night is one you won't forget! Start your night early around 4pm at River & Fort. Not only do they have enjoyable food and cocktails, the atmosphere and views go unmatched. For your next stop, walk across the street to the bayfront where a lineup of horse and carriages will be awaiting. Depending on the carriage, seating ranges from 4-8 people. It's important to note these carriage rides can book up quickly. We recommend walking over after River & Fort, reserving your time slot, then heading to Carrera Wine Cellar to pick up a bottle of your favorite wine to bring along on your ride. You can expect your tour to last about 45 minutes. Finally, every great date night isn't complete until you've made a stop at the famous Tini Martini Bar. Grab an outdoor table and a nightcap and enjoy the display of white lights as you wind down the night.
Nights of Lights displays from November 19th – January 28, 2023.
